A year removed from her first Olympic games, Michigan native Grace Stark earned her first medal on the world stage.
Stark earned the bronze medal in the women’s 100-meter hurdles finals on Monday at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo with a time of 12.34 seconds.
Stark, who won multiple state championships for Lakeland High School in White Lake, Mich., was the only American to medal in the race. Notably, Stark beat fellow American and 2024 Olympic Champion Masai Russell to the line for the bronze.
Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland claimed gold in the race with a national record time of 12.24 while Tobi Amusan of Nigeria was second in 12.29. Russell finished a tenth of a second behind Stark with a time of 12.44 in fourth.
