LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - For Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we’ve been bringing you stories on efforts in Southwest Louisiana and across the state to combat the epidemic. Today, we heard from the Director of the United Way of Southwest Louisiana, Denise Durel, about how her office works to help anyone who may be in crisis.

“It’s absolutely just amazing to me the things and the issues and the weight that some of our families have on whether a child is a recent diagnosis of a disease or someone loses their job. They’re making their way, but one little crisis, one little flat tire can send them spiraling.”

And the United Way of Southwest Louisiana has resources that can help with just the click of a few numbers.
