The Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is sharing a reminder from Scottsboro EPB about the dangers of shooting guns around power lines.

Scottsboro EPB said to never shoot at or near power lines, poles, or electrical equipment.

The utility said doing so can lead to serious injury.

Bullets or pellets can also damage equipment and cause outages.

Hunters are asked to be aware of their surroundings and to choose safe hunting zones away from power lines.

The Facebook post said , "Hunt safe. Hunt smart. Protect yourself, others, and the community."
