Detroit — It's finally time for some hockey.

The Red Wings hit the ice Thursday for their first practice of training camp at Centre ICE Arena in Traverse City.

Coach Todd McLellan and his staff will have three days with the players, before everyone heads to Grand Rapids for Sunday's Red & White intrasquad scrimmage. Then it's a quick turnaround for the Wings playing their first exhibition game, Tuesday hosting Chicago at Little Caesars Arena.
