Divisive plans to build 32 flats at a former bowling club have been given the go ahead, despite a community campaign to save “one of Mount Florida’s only remaining green spaces”.
Glasgow’s planning committee has ruled Noah Developments can redevelop the Carmunnock Road land — with the firm agreeing to provide publicly accessible space and a refurbished clubhouse.
But Mount Florida Community Trust, which was formed by residents in 2019 with the aim of purchasing the club, wanted the whole site to be retained .
The saga came to a head today (Tuesday) when the developers and trust members made their case to councillors. After an almost three-hour hearing, the committee voted 8-2 in favour of Noah’s proposal.
