CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Oscar-winning actor and director Robert Redford, who died Tuesday at the age of 89, filmed one of his final movies in the Tri-State.

“The Old Man & the Gun” began production in Clermont County’s Bethel and then closed roads for filming in Hamilton in Butler County in April 2017 before moving to US Bank on Monmouth Street in Newport the next month.

Scenes were also shot in Covington and Latonia, as well as Dayton (Ohio) and Fort Worth, Texas.

“The Old Man & the Gun” is based on the true story of bank robber/career criminal Forrest Tucker in the late 1970s and his audacious escape from San Quentin prison to a string of heists that perplexed authorities and charmed the public.
