BBC The One Show's Alex Jones and Roman Kemp share 'sad' death announcement live on air

The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp concluded Tuesday's programme with a moving tribute to Robert Redford.

Alex announced: "Now we've heard the sad news announced today of the Hollywood legend, Robert Redford, has died at the age of 89."

She then turned to the evening's guest Stephen Fry, asking about his recollections of the late icon, with Stephen acknowledging he was a "big fan".

"Stephen, of course like many others, you were a big fan of lots of his films," she said.

He responded: "I was, from the very beginning. I remember an early film of his, Barefoot in the Park, with Jane Fonda when he was a really young man. The Candidate, a fabulous political movie. One of the best sports movies
