MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Sun Prairie Area School District officials announced a new acting principal Tuesday for West High School.

Peg Shoemaker will take on the new role and comes with four decades of experience in K-12 education, district officials said.

She retired in June 2025 after serving as the principal of Middleton High School for six years.

Associate Principal Ed Ford has been serving as acting principal over the last few weeks.

Ford said he was grateful for the leadership opportunity.

“I stepped into this role with the full intention of returning to my Associate Principal position as soon as an acting leader was appointed,” said Ford. “I have full confidence in Peg Shoemaker and am committed to supporting her, our staff, and our students as we continue our work moving forwar
