BAY VILLAGE, Ohio – Mayor Paul Koomar, during a City Council committee meeting on Monday, presented two representatives of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with a proclamation declaring Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week in the city.
The proclamation presentation recognized the efforts of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and its local Martha Devotion Huntington Chapter to educate the public -- particularly school students -- about the historic significance of the U.S. Constitution.
The Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787, by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
The document established the country’s national government and fundamental laws, and continues to protect citizen rights, Koomar’s office noted.
