COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police are actively searching for Anthony Bechand, a suspect wanted by police in connection to the death of 41-year-old Cohoes resident Amanda Rodriguez. Officials say that Bechand may be armed and dangerous. Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and that despite this tragedy, Cohoes remains a safe community.
Police believe that 53-year-old Anthony Bechand fled to the North Country after allegedly killing 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez on Saturday. Multiple agencies are now involved in the manhunt throughout Franklin County, using k9 units, drones and other resources. Autopsy results revealed Rodriguez was stabbed with a sharp object and died of a ruptured aorta and massive hemorrhage, and her death has been ruled a homicide.
