GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Grand Forks Herald is reporting that their longtime columnist, Marilyn Hagerty, has died. She was 99 years old.

Her “Eat Beat” column went viral in March of 2012 when Olive Garden came to Grand Forks, leading to several national media appearances and a book deal with celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. Click here to watch more about that.

Bourdain wrote the introduction for the book, calling Hagerty’s writing style “refreshing”. After Bourdain’s suicide in 2018, Hagerty wrote : “I am sorry that Anthony Bourdain died. I’m especially sorry about the way he died,” Hagerty said. “And, of course, I’m forever grateful for the fact that he chose to enter in and take up my side in the dispute that I had nothing to do with.”
