TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A 32-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday for shooting and killing a man at a convenience store in Visalia in 2023, the Tulare County District Attorney's Office said.

Carlos Ayala, 32, was sentenced to life in prison.

On April 8, 2023, Visalia Police officers responded to a shooting at a local convenience store.

The DA's office said a man who attended the store frequently was shot five times, and he died of his wounds later that night at the hospital.

Witnesses on scene directed officers to an adjacent residence where the shooter was seen fleeing. Shortly after, police said, the defendant exited the rear of the residence and was identified as Ayala.
