CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The filmed-in-Cleveland summer blockbuster “Superman” is flying onto HBO Max sooner rather than later. Director James Gunn announced the movie will premiere on the streaming service Friday, Sept. 19.
Since opening in theaters on July 11, the film has grossed $615 million worldwide. It remains in theaters and is also available to stream on-demand.
The first chapter in Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe, “Superman” picks up after the Man of Steel’s first defeat at the hands of Lex Luthor’s super-powered metahumans. The cast features Nicholas Hoult as Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Cleveland native Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
