EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A teacher was arrested at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge Tuesday, Sept. 16, after she was caught with cocaine during a random drug search.
A drug dog was at the school when Virginia Somers, 47, was reportedly found with cocaine inside of a wallet. The drugs were tested and confirmed to be cocaine, sources said.
Officials said that Somers explained that the cocaine belonged to a friend who gave it to her at the LSU football tailgate Saturday.
When searching Somers’ car, officials reportedly found marijuana and pipes, sources said.
Somers now faces possession charges for the drugs and paraphernalia.
Somers teaches Math Intervention at Westdale Middle School and has been teaching overall for more than decade, officials said.
