BATON ROUGE, La. (WVUE) - Gov. Jeff Landry on Tuesday (Sept. 16) would not say when he will ask for the National Guard to support Louisiana law enforcement, but said an eventual deployment of troops will benefit the state’s economy.

President Trump on Monday reiterated he wants to see the Guard deployed in New Orleans. And the Washington Post, citing a leaked Pentagon proposal, revealed tentative plans to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops across Louisiana.

“Mark Zuckerberg and corporate America is not interested in going to places that are dangerous,” Landry said.

Landry said with major investments coming from Meta (parent company of Facebook), Hyundai and liquified natural gas companies, businesses want to operate in safer Louisiana environments.
