MERCER, Pa. - Another mosquito sample has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in Mercer County.
The latest sample marks the 15th positive sample in the county and the 4th that was collected in the Mercer Borough.
The Mercer County Conservation District is planning additional monitoring in the area where the sample was collected.
As of September 16, there have been no human WNV cases reported in the county.
The most common symptoms of the virus include fever, head and body aches, vomiting, and skin rash.
According to the CDC, about one in five people develop symptoms, and about one out of every 150 people develop a serious illness.
About 2,200 human cases are reported each year.
