Rapides Parish Registrar of Voters encourages more voter turnout

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - September 16 is recognized each year as National Voter Registration Day.

Rapides Parish Registrar of Voters Sandra Bonnette said everyone should cast a ballot during elections because it allows them to participate in what happens in our future.

“National Voter Registration Day gives everyone the opportunity to think about casting their ballot,” she said. “It gives them the opportunity to check the deadlines, check their registration, find out when the next election is, what the deadlines are.”

According to records from the Secretary of State’s Office, as of September 1, 2025, over 2.96 million people have registered to vote in Louisiana. Those numbers also indicate there are more than 142,000 people who have registered to vote across Avoyelles, Grant, Rapides a
