TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A Tucson man has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison after previously pleading guilty to Attempted Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Activity, according to a press release.

John Stephen Baker, 71, was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison, followed by a term of lifetime supervised release on Sept. 10 by a United States District Judge.

From around February 6, 2023, to May 10, 2023, Baker was communicating with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, who was actually an undercover special agent with Homeland Security Investigations.

According to a press release, in chat messages Baker asked about previous sexual experiences and expressed fears with engaging in sexual intercourse with an underage girl based on the possibility of being arrested
