It has been nearly one year since the Five Points South mass shooting , which started a movement called "Stop the Violence" in Birmingham.

WVTM 13 is committed to helping find solutions to the violence in our communities. We brought together community leaders back in 2024 to discuss making actionable change. What's happened since?

To take a look at this, WVTM 13 anchor Guy Rawlings is moderating a Stop the Violence Community Symposium Tuesday night with the Birmingham Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. It starts at 6 p.m. CT at the Hale-Pruitt Komplex on 6th Avenue South.

Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett, Jefferson County Sheriff Levie Pettway, and City Councilwoman Crystal Smitherman will speak, alongside community members and students.
