FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Longtime rock n’ roll radio broadcaster, Doc West, was recently inducted into the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame and is now being given his very own day in the city he’s dedicated nearly 50 years to.

Doc West came to Fort Wayne from his hometown, Columbus, Ohio, where he originally discovered his passion for radio, but mainly rock n’ roll.

“Rock N’ Roll music is extremely stimulating and always evolving. Once I realized that I would be surrounded by all these people with rock n’ roll passions, it made it even more attractive,” said West.

Unfortunately, West’s Columbus station switched from rock n’ roll to a Top 40 station, meaning he had to change his tracks.

So, West packed up and took a job at Rock104 (now WXKE), where he has remained for almost 50
