PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Texas Roadhouse butchers from across Alabama spent Tuesday in the Pelham Civic Complex to see whose meat cutting skills reign supreme.

Competitors got onto the ice for round once of the meat cutting challenge. Each participant received 20 to 30 pounds of beef and had to cut a sirloin, filet and ribeye.

"They do this every single day," said Justin Burton of Texas Roadhouse. "Sometimes, they spend 10 to 12 hours a day inside of a 34-degree room, so we try to think of something at Texas Roadhouse to reward those folks and to find out who the best of the best is."

The next round will occur in January, where butchers will fight for a chance to reach the 2026 national competition, which is scheduled for March. The national winner will receive $25,000 and the "Meat Cutte
