BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Alabama Men's Hall of Fame held its induction ceremony for the class of 2025 on Tuesday. Two men who made history in Jefferson County were honored.
Members paid tribute to Charles "Scotty" McCallum Jr. at The Club. He was most known for his time as the mayor of Vestavia Hills and his presidency at UAB.
While working at the college, McCallum expanded the university's medical program and helped start a football program. He died in 2021.
"I think I would like to take away what an amazing man my father was and how everything he did in his career was centered in making community stronger and better, and he felt that was our purpose in life," said McCallum's son Phillip McCallum.
