PHOENIX — The Arizona Senate president wants to honor Charlie Kirk by renaming a portion of a major Valley highway after him.

Arizona Senate President Warren Peterson said he will introduce legislation to rename a portion of Loop 202 the Charlie Kirk Memorial Loop 202.

"We all have a role to play in carrying on Charlie's legacy," Peterson said. "Through God's grace, by renaming this highway we can ensure that his name, his mission, and his witness to the gospel will endure for generations to come."

Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10 while holding an event on a college campus in Utah. Since then, memorials and vigils have happened across Arizona and the United States.
