PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man was seriously injured after he fell out of the window of a moving car in Providence Tuesday night.

Kristy dosReis, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, told 12 News officers were called to Jillson Street to investigate reports of a man lying in the roadway.

Though officers initially thought the man had been hit by a car, dosReis said his injuries were actually the result of a crash.

dosReis said the man had been hanging out of the car window and fell out of the vehicle when it crashed.

The man was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, according to dosReis.
