KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - While there were some ups and downs during the Tennessee game against Georgia on Saturday, there were also some special moments.

One of those special moments included Gaylon Wilson, a World War II veteran who recently celebrated his 100th birthday.

“They drafted me, and I volunteered 4 times, but it was for the Navy,” Wilson said.

On top of being a veteran, Wilson is also the oldest living VFL. He played for the Orange Bowl team in 1947 under General Neyland himself.

“He didn’t talk to you like he was a big general or the coach. He talked to you right on your level, and I talked to him several times. I thought the world of him,” Wilson said.
