US President Donald Trump has said that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will meet with him “very soon”, following intense speculation about the meeting.

It has been more than 300 days since President Trump was elected, and Mr Albanese has gone that entire time without securing a face-to-face with the US leader.

Sky News recently revealed that the meeting between Mr Albanese and President Trump will most likely take place in New York, rather than at the White House .

Speaking to reporters as he departed the White House on Wednesday (Australian time), Mr Trump said of Australians: “They want to get along with me.”

“You know, your leader is coming over to see me very soon,” President Trump said, but did not provide further details on the timing, location, or agenda for the meeting.
