MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. — Union County Jail Committee Chair and County Commissioner Sidney Jessee wrote Sheriff Breeding requesting his resignation.

At the committee meeting on Tuesday afternoon, Breeding did not appear. 10News asked Jessee for comment about the letter. He declined to talk on camera or provide any statement.

10News also asked County Mayor Jason Bailey for comment. He said he would rather not speak on it, saying it was between the sheriff and the jail.

The meeting had room for public comment, but no community members signed up to speak. That left the other items on the agenda all related to the development of a new jail facility.

The committee determined they were not ready for a general contractor at this time. They said they would need to secure funding first.
