Cost of controversial plans to close Bristol city centre bridge to cars under fire
Bristol Live readers have been discussing the contentious proposal to ban cars from Prince Street Bridge , which sits close to the M Shed and Arnolfini and may soon become exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists.
More than 24,000 walking and cycling journeys take place across the bridge daily, in contrast to just 1,700 motor vehicle trips, based on Bristol City Council's most recent traffic survey from six years ago. Motorists are currently permitted to travel southbound across the crossing, whilst those on foot must squeeze into a cramped pathway when moving in either direction.
