TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Hundreds gathered at the University of Arizona’s Bear Down Gym to honor Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA. Attendees celebrated Kirk’s life after a gunman killed him last week, while speaking at Utah Valley University.

The evening had elements of both a political rally and church service. Organizers tossed out “Make America Great Again” at the start of the evening before speakers shifted to prayer, silence and unity over celebrating the impact of Kirk’s life.

"Charlie was wise," Bella Vantes, a Turning Point USA high school chapter member, told the crowd.

"I would say that he was brave," said Ryan Unruh, a Tucson resident, told News 4 Tucson. “Faithful," is how Rogelio Martinez described Kirk.
