Driver charged over fatal New England Highway crash

A MAN will face court in October over a Hunter Valley crash that killed an 11-year-old boy and sent five others from the same car to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the New England Highway at Murulla, about 25 kilometres north of Scone, about 7.45am on June 25 following initial reports of a collision between a Holden Barina and a Nissan Elgrand.

The Barina driver, an 85-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testin
