A woman has denied allegations she tried to murder two girls by throwing them into a river two years ago.

Hoda Elabady is accused of attempting to drown the children in the Georges River at Liverpool, in Sydney's south west, on September 11, 2023.

Police rushed to assist the 38-year-old when they were called to the area about 10.30am and found she had fallen from the Light Horse Bridge.

She was treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

The two girls were pulled from the river by a passer-by more than two hours later.

Police allege Elabady intentionally threw the children into the water before falling off the bridge.

She faced Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday to plead not guilty to two charges of attempting to drown a person with intent to mur
