The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that at the end of July some 186,000 people on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) had their claim reviewed. This includes 150,000 award reviews and 36,000 changes in circumstances.

The DWP data also indicated that 88 per cent of changes of circumstances resulted in an increase or no change to the level of award received by the claimant. More than 3.8 million people across England and Wales are now claiming PIP while some 484,055 Scots are in receipt of Adult Disability Payment (ADP), which has replaced PIP for new and existing claimants north of the border.
