The second of four flanged tritium waste containers is now set to be depressurized Thursday morning, according to a post Wednesday evening on the New Mexico Environment Department's X account.
Operations were set to resume at 7 a.m. Thursday, and depressurization will occur when the equipment is ready, the post states.
The first container was vented Tuesday. The update from the Environment Department states the first container was being "secured."
It's unclear why the depressurization of the second container did not take place Wednesday. The NNSA did not immediately respond to inquiries about the status of the second container.
