EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission, the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility and Amcor say they will be participating in the annual river cleanup of the Ohio River Banks in celebration of World Cleanup Day.

Officials say the event, known as the Ohio River Sweep , is participating along with thousands of volunteers taking part of hundreds of cleanups to remove trash from local waterways.

They say the event will take place at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20 along the Evansville riverfront beginning at the EWSU building at 1200 Waterworks Road.

The event is open to the public, and officials say volunteers are welcome to participate after signing a waiver and participating in a safety briefing.
