EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Cincinnati man is on a mission to bring awareness to mental health struggles, and he’s doing that while kayaking 6,000 miles on the river.

The man, Joseph Solomon, made a stop in Evansville after traveling 14 days on the Ohio river, and he says during his stops, he’s met a lot of people.

He says back in 2012 his life changed following a life-threatening reaction to anesthesia.

Soloman says the aftermath brought a number of mental health challenges, ending his nursing career and leaving him searching for meaning, but he says a kayak and the open water have helped.

He’s heading north now toward the Mississippi River and will then back to Cincinnati.

Soloman has a website where you can donate towards the cause. You can find that website at kayaking4acause.com
