ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -A downtown business owner says repeated crimes have cost him thousands of dollars, and now he’s leaving his broken windows unrepaired as a message to city leaders.
Corey James, who co-owns Buddy’s Wine Bar along Washington Avenue, says he’s been in the downtown business scene for more than 16 years.
“I’ve been downtown 16, 17 years. We’re definitely more of a prominent place downtown, we’re on a great corner, we’re very visible,” James said.
But that visibility, he says, hasn’t always been a good thing.
Buddy’s has fallen victim to multiple crimes since January. Four windowpanes were smashed earlier this year. Most recently, police say Thomas Coram was arrested and charged with hurling rocks through the glass in broad daylight. Surveillance video from an
