COLUMBUS, Neb. (KOLN) - Authorities have released the identity of the woman fatally shot inside a Columbus home Tuesday night.

The Columbus Police Department identified the woman as 25-year-old Kennedi Demuth of Fullerton.

“This is a tragic incident, and our department is committed to conducting a thorough investigation,” Interim Police Chief Bret Strecker said. “The Columbus Police Department and City of Columbus extended our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.”

The Corn Krib Bar & Grill in Belgrade has organized a burger bash to raise funds for Demuth’s family. The business identified her as one of their own on social media.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and all proceeds will go to her family.
