SPOKANE, Wash. — A loaded gun was found at the playground at Liberty Park on Wednesday morning.
According to the Spokane Police Department, at around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, SPD said it responded to the park after a community member found a handgun at the playground.
Police said officers responded and took possession of the gun, and the gun was later placed in police property pending the investigation. SPD said the gun was found at the tire swing at the park.
Police say they have located the gun owner, who told police he was playing with his grandchild at the park when the gun fell out of his pocket.
SPD says no criminal charges will be pursued at this time.
