LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department says they do not plan to make policy changes following the Kentucky Supreme Court’s ruling on no-knock warrants.
On Thursday, September 18, the Kentucky Supreme Court overturned Lexington’s ban on no-knock warrants, arguing the city’s ordinance conflicts with Kentucky’s Senate Bill 4 , which regulates no-knock warrants across the commonwealth.
Despite the ruling, LMPD released a statement saying they do not plan to change any policies at this time:
While this is a new ruling and we are yet to fully understand how it affects the Louisville Metro Council ordinance regulating “no-knock” warrants, the Louisville Metro Police Department has no intention of making policy changes. Many of our policies are more stringent than law
