The Gananoque and Area Food Bank held a free barbecue Sept. 13 for the community in appreciation for all the donations that have come in over the past year. Food bank volunteers helped prepare and serve up a menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, assorted chips, beverages, and mini-chocolate bars. Guests were also invited to tour the food bank and see its new layout and design.
“The board of the food bank is hosting this event as a ‘give back’ to the community; as a ‘thank you’ for all the support we receive from the community throughout the year,” said Mike Cartan, food bank chair. “We could not operate the food bank without the many generous donors (individuals and businesses) we have here in the community.
