SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Budget talks are underway in the South Bend Community School Corporation, and there could be some extra money to allocate to employees.

During Wednesday night’s South Bend school board meeting, District Chief Financial Officer Ahnaf Tahmid proposed what could be the largest budget for any school district in the region — and one of the top in the state — at $211 million.

The proposed budget is around $6 million more than the 2025 budget.

“So that means we have a lot of opportunities in 2026 that we can try to capitalize. That we can empower our employees, teachers, bus drivers and other staff right,” Tahmid says.
