KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A sold-out screening at Glenwood Arts Theatre in Overland Park raised more than $13,000 for the family of Irish Fest chef Shaun Brady.
Brady was shot and killed last year while trying to stop a group of teenagers from stealing his car outside his restaurant, Brady & Fox.
The theatre had a sold-out screening of the documentary "The Elders" on Aug. 16 and ended up raising $13,057.47 for Brady's family.
Funds came from ticket sales, DVD purchases, GoFundMe contributions and direct donations, according to the theatre.
Kansas City's own Celtic folk-rock band The Elders, fronted by Irish-born singer Ian Byrne—a longtime friend of Shaun Brady—attended the event and performed a song after the film in his honor.
