KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lenexa woman originally charged with murder after a deadly crash was sentenced in Johnson County Court on Thursday.

Court records show that Amy Dawn Crouch was sentenced to 72 months, or six years, in the Kansas Department of Corrections after she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence.

Initially, Crouch was charged with second-degree murder after a crash that took the life of 48-year-old Tsige Mesfin of Shawnee, Kansas, on Jan. 17.

The investigation revealed that Crouch ran a stop sign on eastbound West 89th Terrace in Lenexa and struck Mesfin's Toyota RAV4.

Mesfin was pronounced dead at the scene.
