The U.S. Senate today unanimously passed a resolution introduced by U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville , R-Ala., and Rick Scott, R-Fla., that designates Oct. 14 as “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk .”

Kirk, a conservative influencer and CEO of the organization Turning Point USA, died Sept. 10 after being shot while speaking at a campus event at a university in Utah.

“Charlie was one of the most influential people in America,” Tuberville said in a release.

“He was an extremely effective teacher—and I repeat—a teacher of young people. He helped educate millions of young Americans about patriotism and conservative moral values."

Turning Point USA advocates for conservative policies among the country’s youth and has a strong presence at the nation’s colleges and universities.
