FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin sent a letter to Fayetteville Mayor Molly Rawn Sept. 18 saying he finds Fayetteville is now in compliance with Arkansas law and eligible for state funding.
Griffin previously said Fayetteville violated the law after the city stated in June it would not assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Griffin said in an opinion to Rep. Kendon R. Underwood (R-Cave Springs) on Sept. 17 that Rawn’s statement in June, saying the city “does not assist ICE in carrying out its agenda,” violates the law and is therefore not eligible to receive discretionary funding administered by the state.
