ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/FOX24) — La Popular in Rogers has been closed for over a year after taking damage from the May 2024 tornado, and now the restaurant is open again and welcoming customers back in.

The family-owned restaurant has been in Rogers for over 16 years. After the twister caused significant damage, the restaurant was forced to close its doors for the first time for renovations.

Daniel Sanchez is the store manager and works alongside his parents and brother.

Sanchez vividly recalls the day the tornado hit. His dad was the first one on scene after the storm, and Sanchez said his father knew the damage was severe.

"It was mainly in the back. So, once he saw that, it was pretty crushing for him. He called us and he let us know, 'Hey, our store's been hit.' That's when everybody ru
