FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Investigators spoke at the Washington County Quorum Court meeting Sept. 18 and presented evidence of the Washington County Sheriff's Office's misuse of funds and equipment.

Chief of staff for the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Michael Stewart and Washington County attorney Kathrine Baker led the investigation, which detailed several instances of personnel mishandling funds and equipment.

Stewart and Baker told the quorum court that the sheriff's office was using "outdated behavior," and that the Arkansas State Police had stated that the sheriff's office is in "Constitutional violation of citizens' rights."

The investigation looked into claims of employees using county equipment or property to complete projects on personal property.
