EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- The Habitat For Humanity office in Evansville is currently closed due to flooding inside the building.
A sign is posted on the door saying the office has water damage. Officials say the flooding was caused by a recent fire next door. They say the fire triggered the building's sprinkler system, impacting their diamond avenue headquarters.
"This community has been understanding as far as us being closed down,” Partick Landry said. “It hasn't stopped us from our mission, it's not to remodel offices, and redo our offices, it's to build houses, so luckily that has not slowed down our effort to provide affordable housing for Evansville."
Officials say they hope to re-open on September 29 once renovations are complete.
