BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) — The woman who was found guilty in the murder of a Polk County deputy will now spend the rest of her life in prison.

Friday, a judge sentenced Cheryl Williams to life in prison without parole for the charge of second-degree murder, resist officer with violence, and three counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officer. Williams did not address the court.

Williams was found guilty in the murder of Deputy Blane Lane, who was shot when he and other deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant at Williams' mobile home in Polk City back in October 2022.

At the time, Williams was wanted for failing to appear in court for a possession of methamphetamine charge.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Lane was in a tactical position at the front of the home
