HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. - Authorities in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas are warning residents of a new bank fraud scheme using "local banks right here in town."

"Scammers are gaining unauthorized access to banking information and attempting fraudulent mobile deposits," the Helena-West Helena Police Department said.

The department shared the following banking safety tips:

Never share your online banking credentials with anyone

Be cautious of texts, emails, or calls asking for personal banking info

Enable two-factor authentication on your banking app, if possible

Check your account daily for unauthorized transactions

Shred or burn unwanted personal information, rather than just throwing it away

If something seems suspicious, contact your bank directly; don't use numbers or links sent
